This is the picture of the PRP-502 dart launcher as it appears in Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology. I had to make a lot of decisions while designing the 3d model regarding what components were actually what and ended up scrapping and rearranging a lot of the stuff on the top of the barrel.
Modelling the diamond grip crashed Fusion no fewer than 3 times.
This is the final model! I had to pull some clever tricks and it's exactly what I wanted!
It is always important to check the size of an object before you fully commit to making it. This is just a paper cutout, but the size checked out so I went ahead with getting it printed.
This is the fantasitic print I got from Imperial Outpost Games in Glendale, AZ (stop in and say hi!).
The print required a fairly minimal amount of filling and sanding, but every print is going to require some. This was Rust-Oleum Filler Primer and Bondo Glazing putty, not what I use anymore but pretty good products.
